International Standards and Foreign Practices on Media Regulation

A new course book on international legal standards in journalism published with the support of the UNESCO Moscow Office is out of press.

The book covers the following main issues of media regulation: international standards and national systems of media regulation; access to information and freedom of information; national media policy; balance between freedom of the press and right to reputation; legal regulation of television (including digital TV) and radio broadcasting; regulation of Internet; protection of intellectual property rights; defamation and the right to privacy; protection of public morality; the patterns of media regulation.

The book is addressed to faculty and students involved in the studies of legal regulation of mass media at Journalism Departments of higher education institutions. Two CD-ROMs containing full texts of journalist ethical codes and the legal documents regulating mass media in the European Community are part of the edition.
